Chaperones
Band parents chaperone all football games-- home and away, competitions,and trips. Chaperones for away games need to be aware that they must ride the bus with the students to and from the event. Chaperones are also needed for Saturday events. Please check the calendars for September, October, and November for game and competition dates. This is a great way to get to know your fellow band parents! As a chaperone you pay no admission fee to games or competitions. You must pay for a background check with a cost of $20.00. If you are a school employee, you will not need to resubmit.

Concession Stand
The Band Parents operate the concession stand on the home and visitor side at all home games. We serve hot dogs, pizza, Chick-Fil-A, sodas, popcorn, candy and sodas.
As a concession volunteer, you pay no admission to the game. Your name will be placed on a list, which will be checked as you enter the stadium the evening for which you have signed up. We need workers for WBMS, Jolliff, JV and Varsity home football games. Middle school games are on Wednesdays at 5:00pm. JV games are on Thursdays at 6:00pm. Varsity games are on Fridays at 7:00pm.

Fundraising/Sponsorships
Our fundraisers help raise money for the General Fund to help pay for general operating expenses. As a volunteer you can help collect, count and compile orders as needed. We are also seeking sponsors to help support our youth in the music program. Donations are tax deductible! Want to help?

Pit Crew
This is a great way to see the game or competition. Get together with other band parents and help move the equipment on the field or stage. Away games, competitions, trips, help load and unload the truck.

Uniforms/Spiritwear
The uniform chairperson would love to have helping hands during summer band camp to fit marching uniforms, Friday nights during football season, Saturdays before competitions, and in the fall when the concert attire needs to be fitted.

Bingo
This is our #1 fundraiser! The income from Bingo, we are able to assist the band with purchase of instruments, uniforms (marching, guard and concert), music, props, instructors, and many other things that the Chesapeake Public Schools system does not fund. We need year-round volunteers in order to be successful! Our game time is Saturday evening from 6:00-11:00pm.

Hospitality
Events that need volunteers are: the band kickoff picnic in August, Senior night during football season, District band auditions, Winter concert, AIA competition, Spring concert and the Senior banquet in May.

Fall and Winter Guard
Our guard program is growing and they need support in many areas. We offer 2 guard programs one during regular marching season and one during the winter, usually starts in January. Volunteers are needed to help with fitting uniforms, making flags, assisting with hair and make-up.

Parent Liaison
Parents, please feel free to call or e-mail the parent liaison if you have any questions and/or concerns during the year. The parent liaison will contact Ms. Cox and get back to you as soon as possible. Any personal issues should be addressed directly to Ms. Cox.

Volunteer Hours
Anytime you volunteer for a band activity please sign in on the bulletin board in the band room. When you volunteer for concessions or Bingo there will be a clipboard at those locations for you to sign in. Hours will be totaled every month. Reports will be turned in to the WBBPA board and the WBHS PTSA.
