Dear Western Branch Band Parent:

We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our organization.  It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers.  They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store.  Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others. 

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money.  It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount.  Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue.  And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

·         The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…

·         You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…

·         Our school gets a regular source of revenue.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny.  Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program!  And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

These gift cards are not just for giving.  Please buy these cards on a regular basis to purchase your every day items.   If you use a scrip card to purchase your gas, food, clothing, entertainment and even trips with you are paying the same amount of money, but our band is getting rebate money with each of your purchases.

Our first order is due Wednesday November 7, 2007 by 8PM.  I will place the order on Thursday.  I will be placing orders on a weekly basis through Christmas. Orders placed after December 15 are not guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas.  The closer it gets to Christmas the longer it may take to receive our order.  Please make your checks out to WBBPA and give to Terri Fletcher of myself.  You can also pay using PayPal.  I will need your money before I can place your order.  I think most of you will find paying through PayPal very convenient.   I will be at or in front of the band room on the Wednesday the orders are due between 3:30PM – 4:15PM for those of you who did not pay using PayPal or have a last minute order.  I will be accepting orders through each Wed. at 6PM through 12/12/2007.  After the holidays, depending on the need, we will either stay with weekly orders or drop to an every other week ordering schedule. I will keep you posted to changes in the ordering schedule by e-mail.  I will send out an e-mail when the orders are in and tell you when & where you can pick your orders up.

The Western Branch Band Parent Association scrip program promises to be a simple and effective fundraising program.
