I would like to thank you for your interest in the Western Branch High School Band Program and its primary goal: providing students with a well-rounded music education in the Western Branch community. The Western Branch High School Band program needs your support either financially, or, through services and materials that you may be able to provide.
Western Branch High School is one of seven high schools in the Chesapeake Public School system and receives students from two middle schools, Jolliff Middle and Western Branch Middle. With approximately 2300 students, Western Branch is one of the largest high schools in Virginia.
The music program offers many opportunities for these students to excel. Classes in the program include: Marching Band, Colorguard, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Class, Music Theory, Music Survey (Appreciation), Symphonic Band, and Concert Band.
The band program at Western Branch emphasizes the personal responsibility that each member must develop in order for the group to succeed and to promote the same type of civic responsibility our community needs.
Unfortunately, school systems are unable to provide all of the resources needed to create and maintain a top-notch music program. That is where the Western Branch Band Parents Association comes into the picture. These parents and supporters of the band help raise money to defray the costs associated with running one of the top bands in our region.
The cost of uniforms, musical instruments, and transportation (gas prices!) for over a hundred students is staggering. A single replacement tuba costs $5000. Replacing and maintaining uniforms can run $50,000 or more.
Generous support from you and/or your business is vital to helping our band continue to be an integral part of the community, and in continuing to provide our students with an education worthy of their efforts.
